Frederick W. Becker was born in Vermillion, South Dakota on March 24, 1888. Becker studied with Hugh Breckenridge and Daniel Garber at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and further studied in Los Angeles at the School of Art & Design and Art Student League, and in San Francisco at the Macky School. He lived in New York City, Oklahoma City, Taos, and in the Southern California cities of Palm Springs and Cathedral City. An itinerant artist, Becker traveled widely and was active in California from the 1920s until his death in Riverside County on April 12, 1974.

Member; Society of Texas Artists; Oklahoma Art League; Southern States Art League.

Exhibited: Kansas City Art Institue, 1932 (prize).

Works held: University of Oklahoma.
