Everett Lloyd Bryant
(1864-1945)


Painter and muralist, Everett Lloyd Bryant was born in Galion, Ohio on November 13, 1864. He showed early art talent but had no formal study until he was age 28. Bryant was a pupil of Anshutz, Chase and Breckenridge in Philadelphia, Blanc and Couture in Paris, and Herkomer in London. He lived in Hendricks, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland before settling in Los Angeles about 1930. From California, he took numerous sketching trips into Arizona and Nevada. He was active until his death there in September 7, 1945. Primarily a watercolorist, his specialty was floral still lifes.

Member: Philadelphia, Baltimore and California Watercolor Societies.

Exhibited: Panama-Pacific International Exposition, 1915 (silver medal); Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles, 1938; Public Works of Art Project, Los Angeles, 1934; Golden Gate International Exposition, 1939; California Watercolor Society, 1939.

Works Held: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Baltimore Museum; St. Paul Institute.
