Carlo Alfred Romanelli
(1872-1947)
Carlo Alfred Romanelli was born in Florence, Italy on August 24, 1872. He was the son of Italian sculptor Raffaello Romanelli. Romanelli studied with his father and with Augusto Rivalta at the Royal Academy of Art. After his studies in Rome and Paris, Romanelli came to the United States in 1902. He lived in Chicago and Detroit but eventually moved to Los Angeles in 1914. Establishing a studio, Romanelli fulfilled many local commissions until his death on August 9, 1947. Romanelli is well-known for his bronze sculptures.
